SERVICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITY AND SPECIFIC LEARNING DISORDERS (SLD)

Four students of different nationalities outside a university campus are talking and showing each other their notes, some on tablets and some on notebooks.

At the University of Naples Federico II, services for students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are provided by the SInAPSi Center.

SInAPSi is the University Center for all the students who may feel excluded from university life due to disabilities (chronic or temporary), Specific Learning Disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dysorthography, dyscalculia), or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). It offers services, supports initiatives to encourage active participation in academic life, cooperates with university structures to ensure accessibility of the environments, and promotes and conducts research and studies to improve inclusion.

Students with disability or SLD who need support can access the services offered by the Center by submitting appropriate documentation.

HOW THE SERVICES WORK

Students with disability or SLD who need to access and use the services of the SInAPSi Center must contact the Welcome Point (in Italian: “Punto Accoglienza”) of the Center by sending an e-mail to: accoglienza.sinapsi@unina.it
During a first meeting with the professionals of the “Punto Accoglienza”, the student will have the opportunity to explore the difficulties he faces and the factors that could interfere with the academic path. Then, specific consultations on pedagogical, technological, and psychological aspects that may interfere with the student’s university journey will be provided.
After completing these consultations, an individualized Project of Inclusion into academic life will be drafted, in agreement with the student, containing all the supports to carry on the university pathway.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION TO ACCESS SERVICES

- Certification attesting to your health condition.

If the certification is issued in a foreign country, it must be legalized and accompanied by a certified translation in Italian.

  • Legalization : Diplomas and certificates must be legalized at the Italian Embassy to ensure their authenticity. If the country where you obtained the certificate is a member of the Hague Convention (1961), instead of requesting legalization at the Italian Embassy, you must have an Apostille affixed to the documents by the designated internal authority. The list of competent authorities for each country is reported in the link below: https://www.hcch.net/en/instruments/conventions/authorities1/?cid=41
  • Translation: If you are not yet in Italy, the translation must be done according to the guidelines established by the MAECI https://www.esteri.it/it/servizi-consolari-e-visti/italiani-all-estero/traduzione-e-legalizzazione-documenti/ . If the student is in Italy, the translation can be obtained at a court by an official translator, who cannot be the document holder (sworn translation).

Please note: Legalization should not be confused with its official translation.
