Anti-Discrimination and

Culture of Differences

Students

Services to prevent and counter human rights violations and different forms of prevarication related to gender and sexual orientation.
The Section of Anti-discrimination Services and Culture of Differences (SAD), was established with the aim of preventing and countering the various forms of discrimination and violence that can prevent the full and active participation and social inclusion of university students and, in general, all citizens. Embracing the principle of equal opportunity and valuing differences, the Section has long been committed to promoting a culture that is more respectful of individuality and inclusive of all differences by activating a series of interventions in culturally and socially formative contexts.

Who they address

How they work

Students can apply, at any time of the academic year, according to their needs.

Outreach and information activities at Courses of Study, Departments and Student Organizations are initiated following a co-planning process with the SAD Section.

What they offer

  • Psychological counselling to the individual

It consists of 4 psychological-clinical interviews, free of charge and without diagnostic purpose, covers all issues related to sexual identity and gender, aims to support those who face situations of violence, difficulties inherent in sexual orientation and/or gender identity, and who in relation to them, suffer isolation, aversion, rejection and/or violence from society and/or family.

  • AGEDO

Promotes group activities- in the form of mediation and self- and mutual aid- for parents and relatives of homosexual, transgender and gender diverse people, with the aim of preventing health risk factors for LGBT+ youth through support for their families.

  • Consulting to organizations

Inclusion processes and the development of good practices aimed at equal opportunities, intercultural dialogue and combating sexual and gender stigma, discrimination and combating hate crimes are fostered, developing a system of understandings with all entities involved in the implementation of activities both from a horizontal (public sector: University, Schools, Local Authorities, ASL, Public Administration...) and vertical (different levels of the University Institution: students, faculty, non-teaching staff...) point of view.

  • Consulting to Student Organizations

Aims to approach those who hold office (advisors and student representatives) and who belong to a student association to create a network and participate in experiential paths aimed at providing knowledge on issues related to sexual and gender stigma, with the
assumption that training and information contribute to building a more inclusive climate for all; it also aims to create "meeting points" that collect and manage students' requests.

  • Awareness raising and information

Experiential workshops (cycles of 3 workshop meetings) on the issues of differences and discrimination related to gender and sexual orientation, with the aim of preventing and countering the various forms of discrimination and violence that can prevent the active
participation and social inclusion of university students and, in general, the entire community. Awareness-raising spaces and social gatherings are also organized on national and international days.

  • Bullismoomofobico.it

Aims to inform and disseminate news and knowledge through the implementation and updating of the psychologically oriented web platform www.bullismoomofobico.it; expand the dissemination of the activities carried out and gain more visibility locally and nationally with the enrichment of the mailing-list and the constant updating of the social pages Facebook and Instagram; manage the official email of the service to welcome and respond to various user requests; and send a monthly newsletter.

  • University Observatory on Differences

Includes research and monitoring activities aimed at preventing sexual and gender stigma and promoting an inclusive culture of differences in the contexts of university life; participation in Projects in National and European contexts for research, intervention, awareness raising and training on issues of inclusion and respect for all differences.
