Aims and objectives

INSTALL aims to promote inclusive education by supporting equity and social cohesion, while preventing university drop-out and academic underperformance of the clearly identified group of disadvantaged students. INSTALL will develop an innovative integrated methodology, based on currently wide-used psychological methods, to concretely help students in acquiring/enhancing the L2L key competence.

The concrete objective of INSTALL is to improve the L2L competence of disadvantaged students through the use of innovative Narrative Mediation Path (NMP) based on the innovative methodology developed during the project. Also, INSTALL aims to empowering tertiary education system to more precisely tailor flexible learning paths for the disadvantaged students in view of their specific needs identified through the NMP.

The methodology will hinge on merging 4 narrative models (Metaphoric, Iconographic, Writing and Bodily) that will be combined and consolidated into the innovative NMP. The NMP uses the different sensorial channels to facilitate the mentalisation process among participating students and further empower them to acquire/enhance the "Learning To Learn" key competence, ultimately increasing their completion rates and academic achievement.

The concrete aim of the project is to develop, test, finetune and validate the innovative methodology and NMP integrating them into the current services offered by the universities to their students, in order to contribute to the development of a more flexible and inclusive university cycle. The project is designed with a specific focus on long term results.

The two validating cycles will involve about 200 students in the 5 Countries. In the last months of the project a roll out activity is foreseen, for a larger audience to be reached. Once implemented into a current standard service, the NMP will be offered to students on a wider basis, with a regular offer of NMPs held during the academic years.
