The INSTALL project promotes inclusive education, equity and social cohesion while preventing university drop-out of students who need support to fulfil their educational potential because of disadvantages caused by personal, social, cultural or economic circumstances. INSTALL promotes acquisition of the key competence of Learning to Learn at the university level by developing and implementing the innovative methodology Narrative Mediation Path (NMP) targeted at groups of disadvantaged students. This is a narrative methodology aimed at sustaining the development of a reflexive competence which is based on the process of mentalizing learning experience on the part of individuals.
This methodology hinges on four narrative modules (Metaphoric, Iconographic, Writing and Bodily) and uses different sensory channels to facilitate the mentalisation process among participating students and to enable them to increase their completion rates and academic achievements. By consolidating the Learning to Learn competence, INSTALL prevents therefore underperformance and social exclusion.
The project target group consists in university students, who must meet two essential criteria related to academic performance (students who are in delay in making exams and/or with low average mark), respectively personal factors (such as: low income, living far from his/her parents' home, living in rural places, low mark diploma, ethnic minority, full time, part time, ocassionally worker, with family responsibilities, disabled, older than 25 years, from a family with a low level of education, first generation university student).
