Sections

A Head, nominated by the Center's Director is appointed to each section. The Head must be chosen from the professors of the University belonging to the relative scientific/didactic area.

Welcoming Department

 

The Welcoming Department, or entry point of the entire process, welcomes the student, alone oraccompanied by their family, who seeks help from the center with the intent of resolving his or herissues with social integration.

Above all, the service offers the student the chance for a shared reflection upon his or her condition. Through the use of ICF, the operators will attempt to clarify, with the student, all the elements and conditions that determine his or her exclusion from University life.

In detail, the duties of the Welcoming Department are:

 

  • *To welcome the student:
  • *Recognize the student's needs, relative to his or her request;
  • *Clarify the difficulties that create the student's distress.
 
 
 

 

Counseling

 

The counseling section offers students who are living in a state of distress, the space to talk about him or herself in order to identify, starting from their personal experience and exploring the emotional state and relational ways of the student; those factors that may obstacle the continuation and completion of their university studies or cause uneasiness and personal dissatisfaction.

In detail, the duties of the Counseling Section offered to the student are:
 

  • *Brief Counseling (cycle of four individual meetings)
  • *Extended Counseling (psychological course, with a maximum of 20 meetings, distributed on the basis of the student's needs) and group discussions.

Furthermore, the Operator of the Counseling Section is available for meetings and consultations onspecific aspects related to disability for operators, volunteers of the civil service, docents and parents who feel the need to discuss any issues that may arise with the emotional impact thatn exposure to illness and disability can create.

 
 
 

 

Pedagogy

 

The Pedagogy Section is the didactic-pedagogic intervention service whose objective is the promotion and active participation of all students in university life, by means of the identification of the ways to intervene in order to remove the "obstructing conditions" and favor the predisposition of accessible learning environments.
Besides didactic-pedagogic intervention, the Pedagogy section operates as a center of research and study of models and educational practices connected to the process of social involvement within the context of higher education.

The services offered by the Pedagogy Section develop through the following activities:

  • *Pedagogic assessment and description of the different profiles of learning;
  • *Formulation of hypotheses for pedagogic intervention;
  • *Elaboration of individualized didactic strategies;
  • *Confrontation with docents to elaborate interventional strategies aimed at removing any obstacles in attendance;
  • *Identification of equivalent ways of grading;
  • *Pedagogic counseling during the entrance orientation process to evaluate the functional requirements for University study.
 
 
 

Technology

 
 

The Technology Section provides and identifies the most appropriate technological solutions, to answer the students' necessities.

In detail, the duties of the Technology Section are:

  • *Technological assessment, or evaluation of need in terms of assistive technology and consultation in the choice of the most appropriate solutions;
  • *Education on specific projects of autonomy that regard new technologies for the access of study and work;
  • *Research and study of technology in the area of rehabilitation;
  • *Technological support and continued on-site and remote assistance.
