Participating research units:
The project is centered around one of the cornerstones of Special Pedagogy: the creation of a context for integration in which diversities meet and exchange knowledge and learning, to make persons and environments more competent.
As a consequence, the formative potential of web technology has been invested in areas of communication and collaboration and as a resource for the sharing of knowledge and experience, using not only the technological aspect, but mainly aspects associated with the person in a pedagogic approach. Working in a web 2.0 environment, thus eliminating restrictions and obstacles
of spatial, temporal and personal nature, allows an expansion and re-articulation of spaces and experiences individually and in a group setting, giving appropriate recognition to instances of imagination, affection, building creativity, and finally the development of the person.
There is a research into socio-pedagogic and socio-technological solutions with the aim of experimenting with the integration of the aspects of a typical open source platform for the online formation and interaction with the prerogatives of environments of multi-user simulation, while taking part of the relative international communities, and living the web dimension as a source of
human enrichment by providing the involved subjects not only technical resources but an effective and lively presence.
There are, however, needs and special educational specifics which must be considered, to which we must give appropriate answers in the hopes of eliminating obstacles that do not allow communication and participation. The project presents itself through the utilization of specific auxiliary technologies, and/or through a tutoring program intended as a relation of help and maturation of the person, and/or action between groups of equals, in order to give everyone the necessary conditions to build an active citizenship in the formation and in the life of relations and expressions.
The choice focused on university environment is also due to the ever-growing amount of students with disabilities or particular conditions of disadvantage or with the increasingly common risk of dispersion and lack of motivation to learn and communicate.
Particular attention will be directed to individuating cognitive and affective-relational profiles of students with the aim of uncovering the characteristics that concern styles of comprehension, ways
of communication and expression and cognitive needs, thus shining light on individual "learning stories".
Mediation strategies and "adaptation aids" are foreseen, along with experimentation of software, possibilities of use of technologies for the transformation of knowledge, also in those particularly complicated cases in which a re-elaboration of contents is required, while keeping them equivalent (being in a university environment).
The quality of the learning processes will be evaluated keeping in mind all aspects and dimensions of these processes in the university context, enhancing the capacity of comprehending for learning.
The formation of specialized tutors is planned, with a hands on approach to situations and the evaluation of competencies of the building of a formative model, particularly innovative for its double formative value in the online dimensions and in person for the recognition of abilities and competencies in uniting educative and technological needs and answers. Attention will be given to the play learning and development of personal and relational skills, promoting participation, sharing, self-defining and exchange of knowledge.
The contribution of the results of the project may have an important effect on university formation, as far as learning and integration processes, in the enrichment of individual and group life, in
approaching real needs of advanced technology in a context of disability that often are not taken advantage of, of a different way of utilizing the web through the discovery of creative and personalized ways that come from a pedagogic approach to multimedia and technology.
